My name is Mary-Anne Polan and I am an occupational therapist. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Michigan University in 1981 and a Master of Arts in Management and Supervision in 1989. I worked 29 years for Macomb County Community Mental Health in various capacities in the MI and DD divisions. I retired from Macomb in 2013 and worked for Henry Ford on the Behavioral Health inpatient unit for 2 years and also for TLC part-time in the evenings. Since October 2015 I now work as a contract therapist in the Detroit Public schools with children ages 2.5 to 14 years old. I have two adult children. A daughter who is finishing residency in Detroit and a son who works in finance in Chicago. My spare time is filled with volunteer work for my church and the indigent. I am also involved with Women Build, the female division of Habitat for Humanity. I have a love of animals and just recently adopted a retired racing greyhound to add to the zoo at the house which includes cockatiels and a cat. I also love gardening, boating, cycling and camping/hiking.
